Hougang 6 Miles carrot cake (后港六条石)

Located near the Kovan MRT station on the North East line, Hougang 6 Miles carrot cake has been featured on a popular Channel 8 food review show for their dishes. Can the carrot cake and fried oyster omelette emulate the same success with the AllReviews team?

The stall is a three man team who worked tirelessly to serve us our food...

Black carrot cake...in the making

Black Carrot Cake

The radish cake was soft and chewy. Placing it into your mouth, the radish melts into a burst of flavor, giving great satisfaction. The salted turnip (hokkien: cai po) was crunchy - an indication of the freshness of the ingredient. There were four prawns in the dish,  and each one of them were juicy and succulent.

Fried Oyster Omelette

The eggs were crispy and the oysters were plentiful. When bitten, the oyster oozes juice that is salted appropriately. However, we did have one major gripe with the dish...

The dish was way too oily for our preference. The health-conscious crowd should avoid ordering this dish. Thankfully, an option for reduced oil is possible.

What's oyster omelette without the store's signature chilli sauce? The sauce had a tinge of lime in it which made it an excellent companion with the omelette. We asked for refill after refill as we ate.
