The salmon hot stone pot set meal pictured above was worth every single cent of the $5.50 I paid.
Hopefully, you’ll face the similar dramatic buildup that I had prior to eating it, having the succulent aroma of raw salmon being slowly cooked by heat of the piping hot rice whetting your appetite.
The picture says it all, hungry yet?
The breakdown:
The salmon was fresh and juicy and I really liked how the edges were beginning to cook while the inner parts were still pinkish.
Meanwhile, the fried egg was a pleasant “sunny-side” up with an unbroken yolk that was sprinkled with light soy sauce, something which I appreciate a lot since I have the tendency to eat the whole yolk at once.
The drawback would have been the green peas that were hard and rigid, as the taste did not compliment the other ingredients. I truly feel that edamame beans would have been more appropriate for this Japanese-themed meal, but you may have your own reservations.
Also, the drink is actually water chestnut-flavoured, but I had to ask the cashier what it was exactly since the taste was ambiguous, with me guessing whether or not it was green tea.
The stone pot rice was well-cooked and surprisingly, none of it stuck to the sides, unlike the burnt ones that cake up at the bottom of most claypot rice dishes.
And guess what? The stone pot was still hot even after I finished my food!
The Rating:
For what it’s worth, due to the price and taste the dish scored:
Though their name may lead you to think of roti prata or other spicy foods, Luvvy Curry is actually a restaurant in the heartlands that serves up Japanese food. Their menu ranges from hot stone dishes to their trademark home-style Japanese curry that probably inspired the name.
