Part 4 of AllReviews' thoughts on Mnet Asian Music Awards: The Evolution of "MAMA"

By Bryan

The entire Singapore was different yesterday as everyone around me, inclusive of my Twitter timeline, was talking about "MAMA", which happens to be an acronym that stands for the Mnet Asian Music Awards 2011.

It was fun to eavesdrop while many K-pop fans were going on and on about their favourite groups such as the popular  "SNSD" (So Nyuh Shi Dae or Girl's Generation) and "SuJu" (Super Junior) while mentioning the word "MAMA" over and over again.

Girl's Generation known as SNSD (above) and "SuJu" Super Junior (below)

However, it was even more interesting to see those who have almost no knowledge of K-pop try to fit into the conversation, since "MAMA" to most would be a short form of mother. Of course you can't blame them for thinking that way, thanks to the famous lyrics of Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, sung by the legendary (also an Internet meme) Freddie Mercury.
Freddie Mercury: "Mama, I just killed a man.."
Next, comes the real shocker, besides the Asian artistes that usually attend this yearly event, American artistes like Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and will.i.am made themselves present and even performed alongside CL, the leader of the 4-girl Korean group 2NE1 (New Evolution of the 21st Century).

With the meaning of words changing and the collaboration of artistes from different music scenes, what will happen next?

Let us here at AllReviews know what you think in the comment box down below and also, just for fun, who do you think will be a funny celebrity or musical artiste to see at the Mnet Asian Music Awards 2012?

Weird Al Yankovic would be my choice!
